New year, new you? The ‘Transform RVA’ fitness competition in Richmond is offering a $4,000 prize for the best 90-day transformation

RICHMOND, Virginia (WRIC) If you’re ready to get serious about your health, but are waiting for the right incentive, what does $4,000 sound like?

Two locally owned Richmond-area companies are offering the same amount of money as the top prize in their inaugural fitness transformation contest starting the first week of the new year.

“Transform RVA” is a 90-day fitness transformation competition founded by RVA Iron Gym and No Limits Nutrition, owned by Brandon Garner and Bobby George – and Joe Kincaid, respectively.

Kincaid said of the competition, “I’ve always thought it would be fun to do this, and we want to keep the momentum going for people into the new year.”

As of December 22, Garner said the contest already had 200 signups, with more than two weeks left until registration closed.

“The goal is just to have, you know, 500 people do this and try to change their lives and get into a better situation,” Garner said. “But at the same time, someone’s going to win $4,000, too.”

The contest will run from January 1 to April 5 and the first place winner with the best transformation will be awarded a grand prize of $4,000 cash.

  • First Place Award: $4,000 cash
  • Second Place Award: A year’s supply of protein from No Limits Nutrition Center, and a year’s free gym membership from RVA Iron Gym (approximately $1,500 value)
  • third place award: $200 No Limit gift card, and three months of free gym membership from RVA Iron Gym ($410 value)

Transform RVA will be evaluated based on body fat reduction, muscle mass gain/definition and weight change by a panel of five judges, ranging from fitness coaches to professionals accredited by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Professional League. Even bodybuilders will participate.

“I just wanted to create something the community could do together,” Kincaid said. “You’re competing against each other, but most importantly, you’re competing against yourself.”

The winners of the competition will be announced on April 6 rva fit day, a joint venture of Garner and Kincaid to bring the Richmond community together to learn about fitness, health and wellness. The first of its kind, the 2024 event will be held at The Commons, located at 2101 Mayville Street in Richmond.

In addition to announcing the transformation winner, Garner says RVA Fit Day will provide a venue for local brands and vendors to showcase their products and services to better serve and educate the community, and even There will also be meetings with fan-favorite fitness influencers and bodybuilders.

“RVA Fit Day was our way of bringing all these people together under one roof,” Garner said. “This is the culmination of a period of everyone coming together to support the health and well-being of everyone. It’s about people coming, getting information and learning things they might not know about.”

The Commons has space for 100 vendors, as well as four basketball courts, two turf fields, a stage, and more. Garner said inquiries about participation in the event are ongoing and she is excited to bring the community together and improve lives beyond the 12-week challenge.

“I hope that people who sign up can develop habits that they can take with them for the rest of their lives,” Garner said.
